Work Anxiety

Well, looks like I'll be going back to work part time starting next week.  Can I tell you how excited I am about it? I'd rather eat rocks than go back to my job.  It's not that I don't want to work.  It's that I work in a school with emotionally disturbed kids and it's a really tough crowd..

Most of the kids know me because I worked there for 5 years before I had my daughter and when they see me I get so much love from them. They really are great kids. So what am I complaining about?  As lovely they are when they see me at first, when they don't want to do work, or has a problem at home, or had a fight with another kid earlier that day, all hell breaks loose.

Let me give you an idea of a typical day. Before the first bell rings, on average, two fights have already broken out as well as several kids runnning off into the woods and staff having to go find them. (The school is on a large 117 acre campus surrounded by woods)  BTW there are only about 150 kids that go to the school.

First class is reading. The whole school has Reading classes at this time. (Kids favorite subject-NOT) At this point if you don't get hit with a desk, pen, or other flying object you've had a good morning.

After reading all the classrooms switch for different subjects.  Most of your day, including lunch and prep times, are spent breaking up a fight, talking to a kid with a problem, holding back a kid from gym because they didn't go their other classes and so on.

I do love the school and what it does for the kids because it really has changed lives of some of the kids there, but it is soooooooo exhausting.  It can a rewarding job but it can also wear you down fast.  When I was single and living at home with my parents I think I was more tolerable because I would either go out with some of the other teachers after work or meet up with my friends for a cocktail or a bite to eat and just vent.

It's different working there all day, coming home to my daughter who is only 1 so she needs much attention (and I love giving it to her), cooking dinner, cleaning up after dinner, giving Danicakes a bath,  putting her to bed, etc.

I really would love to work from home. Someone has to know of some legit companies that have you work from home. If you do please let me know.

Sorry if I sound like I'm whining. :-(

A lovely weekend

I had such a lovely weekend doing absolutely nothing. Every weekend we are running around doing somthing. It seems to always be someone's birthday or some kind of occassion but this past weekend we stayed home and just chilled with Danicakes.

Hubby cooked a great lamb dinner yesterday. Maybe I'll post the recipe later.  I got things organized such as bills, clothes for work this week :-( and even gave myself an at home facial.

Now it's 6:30 am and I'm up getting ready to go back to work. I'm trying to go with a positive attitude. I'm definately going to stop on the way and get a few lottery tickets. :-)

Well, hope you al have a great Monday!!

Secret Shopping

After my first day back, to work which wasn't too bad.  I only got one window broken by one of the kids and a bin full of markers dumped on the floor. :-)

Anyway, I don't want to talk about work.  After work I went to Macy's because they were having a huge sale. I don't shop much at all but I decided just to see what they had and maybe treat myself to a new maternity shirt or something. I'm not sure how I ended up in the jewlery section because I'm not really jewlery person but, from a distance, I saw the prettiest earrings.

They were originally $80. I got 50% off, then another 15% and I had a 10% coupon. I bought those pretty little things for just $33.00!! I was so excited because I never find deals like that.  I have a girlfriend that is a pro at finding deals and getting things for nothing but I'm usually never that lucky.

I felt a little guilty because hubby and I decided to not spend money on anything besides the absolute necessities, like food, and we have to use to coupons.  Well, I did have a coupon right? Should I tell him or keep this little secret to myself?  Funny thing is, I feel a little guilty but not that much. :-) I think I deserve a treat every now and then.  And so do you! So go out and but yourself some thing nice! You derserve it!

I decided to create this poll just to see how many of you secretly shop.

I also have a fabulous quote for today!!

Quote of the Day

Hooked on success

Celebrate your achievements, no matter what their size. Feel how great it feels to take focused, disciplined action and to make something happen.

Use each small success as motivation to create more success. Be so truly thankful for what you've done that you are compelled to do much more.

It feels so good to know you've made a difference. Get yourself addicted to that feeling.

Get yourself hooked on positive, meaningful success by treasuring and valuing and celebrating every accomplishment. The more thankful you are for what you've done, the more motivated you'll be to do it again.

Let yourself feel great about it, and enjoy that delightful feeling. You'll be well on your way to making it happen again and again.

#3 Did you see the E-trade commercial with the babies during the Superbowl? I loved it! Click on the link to watch it if you missed it.       SUPERBOWL E-TRADE COMMERCIAL

#4 I've been thinkng about switching to Wordpress. Have any of you made the switch recently? Is it difficult to do and what are the pros and cons with it?

Monkey see Monkey do
My daughter is turning 2 in May. She just started her new daycare yesterday and after work I picked her up and came home. My sister Debs came by for a while and we were talking about how big Danicakes is getting and how much she's changed.

I feel like she's changed a lot just in the past few weeks. All of a sudden she repeats everything I say. Somtimes it's clear and sometimes she says it in her own language but she still tries.

Now I realize, I really have to be careful what I say around her.

My sis and I decided to order Chinese food for dinner. Hubby was out with some co-workers.  After an hour of waiting for the food it finally arrived.  We ate and then I started to clean the table.

I picked up the plates off the table and brought them into the kitchen. As I went to put one in the sink it slipped out of my hand and landed right on my little toe before hitting the floor!

The pain was excrutiating!! I hopped around on one foot, holding the other, yelling every curse word I know and even made up a few.  Tears were just about to run down my face when I looked at my 1 1/2 year old daughter and she had one foot in her hand trying to hop around and repeating all the bad words.

The pain was still there but I couldn't help but fall to the floor laughing at her. My sister and I laughed so hard for a good 10 min. You know the laugh where you can't breath and tears are falling uncontrollably?

I thought I probably should not have laughed since she was repeating the curse words but she doesn't know what bad words are anyway. She was just repeating mommy.  It was my fault for not using paper plates!

So that was my laugh for the day and I definately needed that!

Snow Day.....NOT!

So my area, as well as the rest of the tri-state area, is going to get hit with a LOT of snow today. While I was at my fabulous job yesterday (and I mean that sarcastically) we were hearing about all the schools that were already announcing closures for today. Even NYC announced they were closing and they rarely, if ever, close.

The teachers and the rest of the staff were already prepared to lose a personal day because my school NEVER closes! That's right, school will be scheduled as usual!

This place is not just a school,  it's also a residental treatment center so half of the kids live on the campus and the other half travel by bus from all over. The day students, or kids that come by bus, won't be there because their smart districts closed and so there won't be any bus service. Only the residental kids will have to come to school and that's only about 70 kids.

Doesn't that sound crazy? Stay open for 70 kids? The best part is that the assistant principal was going around asking the teachers who planned on coming during the storm.  Obviously most of them said no, especially ones that travel an hour or more everyday to get there (that's crazy enough).  This crazy lady just bought a brand new BMW (obviously gets paid much more than the teachers) and said she'll pick up and drop off staff who didn't want to drive. HA HA!!

Does she think I'll feel safer with her behind the wheel? I think she may be crazier than the kids!

The thing that really gets me is when she asked me, and I said it depends on what the weather looks like in the morning, she said ,"I don't understand the people here."  SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND!?!

She doesn't undertand that every school in my county, the city and basically the state is closing to keep people safe and off the roads!? She doesn't undertand that people have kids who don't have school today and will be home with no one to watch them!? She "doesn't understand" nearly made me quit right there.

Did I mention that this "assistant principal" use to be my aid in my classroom when I first started working there? She worked her way up and got her degree in administration and now I have to answer to her. YUK!

Isn't one of the perks of teaching, when it's snows, you get a snow day? How did I end up at the one school that never closes?? Oh and by the way, we're open all summer too. HA!

Thanks for letting me vent once again! :-)

Family Fun Day

We had such beautiful weekend here in NY. Hubby, Danicakes and I had a family fun day on Saturday.  First we took Danicakes to the Stepping Stones Museum in CT.  She loved it and it was perfect for her. She got to climb, jump and play on all kinds of different things.

After the museum it was too nice to go home so we went to a park near my house and tried to show Dani how to ride her bike. She has a little bicycle that looks like a scooter. It's really cute. Of course when we got there we discoved her feet couldn't quite reach the pedals so we took turns pushing her around.

I have a crazy weekend up ahead and not looking forward to most of it. I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to Monday already. YUK! Well, Hope you al have a fantastic day!

1st 2nd and 3rd pregnancy

Someone sent me this e-mail and I thought it was funny and somewhat true. I'm on my 2nd pregnancy and I almost feel bad giving the new baby all of Dani's old clothes and toys. I'm sure she'll get some new ones from friends and family and it's definately more cost effective to pass things down but I still feel like she's being gypped a little before she's even born.

Even being the oldest of three my mother has loads of pictures of me and very few of my youngest sister. I think I'm going to try to be more conscious when this new baby come and take just as many pics of her as I did with Dani. We'll see what happens. :-)

Anyway, read this it's kind of funny.
Differences between first, second and third child

1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

Preparing for the Birth:
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don’t bother because you remember that last time, breathing didn’t do a thing.
3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month.

The Layette
1st baby: You pre-wash newborn’s clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby’s little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can’t they?

Worries
1st baby: At the first sign of distress—a whimper, a frown—you pick up the baby
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your three-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing.

Pacifier
1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby’s bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.

Diapering
1st baby: You change your baby’s diapers every hour, whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

Activities
1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, Baby Zoo, Baby Movies and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaners.

Going Out
1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times.
2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.

At Home
1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn’t squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children

Swallowing Coins
1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays
2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.
3rd child: When third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his allowance!

P.S Is anyone else losing followers? I had 139 last week and now I have 137. WTH? Am I the only one going in the opposite direction? I know I've been slacking a little but don't give up on me. :-(

WTF Friday

I'm officially declaring today WTF Friday!  I don't understand some things that I hear on TV. Maybe one of you will have a good explanation for the insanity going on.

Yesterday on Oprah she had Jenna Jameson on as a guest. If you don't know who she is, she's "the biggest porn star in the world." She talked about her career making porn and how she has now retired to raise her twin boys.  Her husband is also a porn star and one of the men she made most of her movies with.

She claimed she only has sex with 3-4 men which I find very hard to believe but whatever! What really got me is how they talked about how she built an "empire" making porn. She lives in a beautiful huge house on the water with her yacht parked  right in her back yard.

She made all this money making porn?? Is she paying any student loans? Doubt it. Does she wonder how she's going to send her boys to college? Doubt it. (If that's even a plan) She is retired and I'm not sure how old she is but definately much younger than I'll ever be able to retire.

I know I sound bitter but that's because I am! I went to school, got a decent job teaching children. I'm shaping minds not creating sex addicts. Why am I broke and she's living in luxury? WTF!

Doesn't anyone else find this completely unfair or am I just having another pregnancy mood swing?

Please let me know if you and any WTFs you want to share. Misery loves company!

Celebrities

What do these celebrities all have in common?   They are all famous for no reason!

I had this conversation over the weekend with a few friends.  After my Jenna Jameson post I vented to my friends how I think it totally unfair that she made all her money making porn and I'm broke teaching. Most of my friends are teachers so they all agreed. Then we started talking about celebraties who are famous for doing nothing. Just looking pretty or I'm just not sure how to explain the Jersey shore cast. (Although I have to admit I do like Pauly D.)

Ok it's Monday and I'm off all week so I'm going to try to kick my mood swings to the curb this week and write about positive things. One good things that happened this past weekend was it was my mother's 60th birthday. My father's 70th is in August so my sister and I pitched in and booked them a trip to Vegas in June.

They were soooo happy my mother started crying. My parents don't ever really travel or get away so this was a really good gift and I was glad we were able to do this for them. Now if I could only get away myself!

Celebrities and Sex

What is going on with the celebririties these days?? First Tiger Woods then Jesse James now Tiki Barber! This morning I heard that Tiki dumped his wife, whose 8 MONTHS PREGNANT with twins, for his 23 year old intern. That bastard!

So who wants to bet that we hear several other women come out and say they had affairs with Tiki. Then the poor bastard is going to cry he has a sex addiction and needs rehab. I think this sex rehab excuse is a cop out.

If your a sex addict and you have a women lying next to you every night (meaning your wife) why don't you just have sex with her every night? If the idea is to just sleep with different women than WHY GET MARRIED?!

This subject makes me crazy!! I also don't understand why some of their women go back to their husbands after that.  Maybe some of you do understand why they do but I just can't.

Before I got married I had a boyfriend I dated for 6 years. I found out that he cheated on me and I could never look at him the same just knowing that he was with another women.  I eventually forgave but I never did forget and NEVER got back together with him.

I just don't understand this crazy world sometimes!

Sorry Ladies

I've ben so sick the past week and not sleeping, I've totally neglected my blog and the Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. Thank you for all of you that recently started follwing me and who left comments. I promise to get back to everyone soon.

Heading back to bed now. :-( Not fun being sick and ezpecially when your pregnant.

Feeling better .......finally

After over a week of having bronchitis and feeling my chest was lit on fire, I finally feel better. WOW! It was rough. Most of it was my fault. I'm so stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor when I'm sick. I just kept getting worse and worse till I thought my lungs were going to collapse.

Anyway, hubbie really was such a huge help! He took care of the baby, cleaned the house, did laundry, cooked and cleaned and let me just lay like lump in bed.

BIG shout out to my hubster! LOVE YOU! XOXOXO

So I'm sorry I hadn't been here to comment and post but I didn't even have the energy. Did I miss anything good? Any good posts I should catch up on that you know about?

Hello Everyone!

WOW! I haven't been here in a while!! So much has been going on.  My hubby and I are in the process of buying a house. YAY! I'm so ezcited! It was a long and frustrating process but we finally found one for a great price.

This pregnancy has been an extremely uncomfortable one. My first pregnancy was a piece of cake compared to this. Luckily, I didn't put on much weight and it's mostly belly but I swear this kid tries to stand up in there. I've never seen my belly stretch out the way it does sometimes at night. It really looks like she's trying to bust out like an alien.

Have I missed anything?? I miss reading everyone's blog and visiting. School is out for a while so I'm hoping to stop by and visit everyone.  Hope you all well!

First day of summer today!! YAY!!

Hello ladies! Life has been pretty hectic here. My little angel arrived August 8th! She's absolutly beautiful if I may say so myself. :-) I do miss sleeping at night but I wouldn't have this any other way. Danicakes also loves her little sister and has been a big help.

As if having a baby isn't hard enough we also started demolition on the inside of our new house the same week.  We're hoping to have the house done by Christmas.  I can't wait to have my girls and hubby enjoy the much needed space. It will also be the first time in my life I'll have a backyard to just relax and entertain in !!

So a lot has been going on here. I'm just starting to get a routine going and I'm hoping to be back on here as much as I use to .  I think it's good for my sanity to talk to some adults even if it is through a blog.  I'm going to try to stop by everyone's blog soon. Have a great day1

Joys of Parenthood

Last night  the baby woke up at 4:30 for her second feeding. It's the hardest time for me because I'm sooooo tired. I've started pumping so I can give her a bottle, since it seems to works faster than breastfeeding and my boobs are KILLING me, but somtimes I'm just too lazy to get out of bed to get the bottle and warm it up.  Last night was one of those nights. I just couldn't get out of bed so I decided to try to breast feed her.

After 45 min of her eating then falling asleep and waking up to eat more, I had it. I got out of bed and got the bottle. She downed that milk in 10 min! So now I'm thinking I should've just done this in the first place. I was so happy that I could put her back down in her bassinet and go back to sleep. Except that when I picked her up to put her back she threw up all 3 ounces of milk!!

It went all over me, her and the bed. I wanted to cry! My husband woke up to my sound of panic and started to laugh when her saw me covered in milk.

We quickly cleaned it up but of course since the baby didn't hold anything down she was up an hour later looking for more.

Going to take a nap now! Shhhhhh.........Have a good day!

BTW my little one was 1 month old yesterday!! Damn that went by fast!!
